Halloween Safety

The Halloween holiday season is a fun time for people to enjoy various social and community activities.  Like many such activities, there are various ways to improve the safety of kids and adults alike.  The American Red Cross has provided 13 tips that can be viewed here.  Be safe and have fun!

Finding Important Papers in an Emergency -- New Training Available

If something should suddenly happen to you, would your spouse or loved ones know where to quickly find all of the pertinent information to help them in an emergency? Johnson County K-State Research and Extension is offering The Legacy Workshop October 14, from 7 – 9p.m. at 11811 S. Sunset Drive in Olathe, for anyone interested in learning how to organize a complete record of financial, medical, legal, emergency, charitable and personal information.

Usually, only one person in the household knows where everything is kept. More often than not, the multitude of paperwork is not all located in one convenient place. In an emergency, do your loved ones have the information needed to make vital decisions? This Legacy system is a simple three-ring binder that can be used in many ways. It can be used to gather and store your own information to be used in the future by your children and grandchildren. Or, use the binder to collect information now from your aging parents. During the workshop, author and guest instructor Jim Courtney warmly coveys the importance of capturing your legacy through his unique story telling of personal experiences and hands on exercises.
